FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAFTI FIRST NOW HAS NFRC APPROVED CALCULATION ENTITY (ACE) INDIVIDUAL TO HELP ARCHITECTS DESIGN FIRE RATED, ENERGY-EFFICIENT FENESTRATION SYSTEMS
SAFTI FIRST is the first and only fire rated glass and framing manufacturer to have approved glazing and framing components in NFRC’s CMAST database.
BRISBANE, CA (December 8, 2017) – SAFTI FIRST, leading USA-manufacturer of advanced fire glass and framing systems, is pleased to announce that project manager Paolo Mercado has completed the NFRC Approved Calculation Entity Training and successfully passed all required examinations. Paolo is recognized by the NFRC as an Approved Calculation Entity (ACE) individual and is qualified to perform calculations of fenestration products using the Component Modeling Approach Software Tool (CMAST). This allows SAFTI FIRST to assist design professionals and building envelope consultants to create energy-efficient, fenestration systems that meet the most stringent fire rated requirements.
Last September, SAFTI FIRST’s SuperLite II-XL 45, 60, 90 and 120 fire resistive glazing in both clear tempered and Starphire Low-Iron make-ups and GPX Framing up to 2 hours were approved as glazing and framing components by the NFRC CMA program. NFRC ACE individuals like Paolo can use CMAST to simulate the U-factor, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) and Visual Transmission (VT) of exterior fire resistive window/wall assemblies that incorporate SuperLite II-XL, GPX Framing and any other glazing or spacer component available in the CMAST database.
“SAFTI FIRST’s investment in our staff’s continuing education illustratess our steadfast commitment to leading the fire rated fenestration industry,” says Sharon Heagney, VP of Project Management & Engineering at SAFTI FIRST. “We are proud of Paolo’s accomplishment and look forward to all the benefits this will provide our clients.”
SAFTI FIRST’s exterior fire rated systems are fully vetted for exterior performance with static & dynamic water pressure testing, air infiltration testing, thermal cycling & condensation evaluation, and structural, seismic and interstory displacement testing. It has also been tested to hurricane requirements, earning UL Certifications, Florida Product Approvals and Texas Department of Insurance Approvals. It can be engineered to meet blast, ballistic and other security requirements as well.

SAFTI FIRST Fire Rated Glazing Solutions (www.safti.com) has been serving the architectural and building communities and is the recognized leader in manufacturing fire rated glass and framing for over 35 years. As the premier source for fire rated glazing, SAFTI FIRST was the first to introduce transparent fire rated walls to the U.S. market. Our SuperLite™ product line, fire rated from 20 minutes to 3 hours, includes fire resistive tempered units (SuperLite II-XL and SuperLite II-XLB), fire resistive multilaminates (SuperLite II-XLM), fire resistive security glazing (SuperSecure II-XLS), specialty tempered glass (SuperLite I and I-XL), safety ceramics (PYRAN Platinum F and L by SAFTI FIRST), safety wired glass (SuperLite I-W) and specialty fire protective (SuperLite X-45/60/90). SuperLite products can protect against noise, attack, impact, bullets, blast, hurricane and UV rays, and are available in many custom architectural make-ups, including butt-glazed and enhanced energy performance applications. GPX Framing is fire rated up to 2 hours and can be used in doors, openings, storefronts, curtain wall and floor applications and available in multiple architectural finishes. GPX Framing can also be customized protect against attack, impact, bullets, blast and hurricane. Our products are manufactured in the U.S. for fast lead times.
