2012 IBC and ADA Affect Vision Areas in Fire Doors and Exit Passageways

Large Vision Areas Must Be Fire Resistive

The 2012 IBC makes it clear that vision panels in 60 and 90 minute temperature-rise doors located in paths of egress must work to protect passersby from radiant heat transmission. To meet both IBC and ADA, vision areas must be large and fire-resistive.

SuperLite II-XL Meets 2012 IBC and ADA

SAFTI FIRST’s SuperLite II-XL blocks radiant heat, meets ASTM E119 wall standards and can be used in 60 and 90 minute temperature rise doors and adjoining sidelites and transoms. Because it’s fire-resistive, vision areas featuring SuperLite II-XL can be larger than 100 sq in.
