Fire-Rated Frames That Resist the Bullet and Hammer

SAFTI FIRST®, manufacturer of fire-rated glass and framing systems, announces two new protective features of its fire-resistant GPX frames: bullet resistance and attack resistance.

In recent tests conducted by Intertek Testing Services, Antioch, CA, SAFTI FIRST®’s GPX security frames met UL 752 (1995), Level 3, requirements for bullet resistance and ASTM F 1592-01 Impact Test requirements, Grade 1, for sledgehammer attack resistance.

GPX fire-rated framing systems are listed by ITS and UL for 60, 90 and 120-minute applications. They meet all the temperature rise requirements of the national building codes, providing the maximum barrier against fire and radiant heat transfer. Now they come with the additional security of bullet and attack resistance.

GPX aluminum fire-rated security frames are available in virtually any custom architectural make-up – any species of decorative wood; ornamental copper and brass clad; stainless steel; anodized, powder coated or Kynar; or any other custom finish.

By incorporating fire and security rated glazing material in a GPX framing system, architects and builders can create an aesthetically pleasing barrier against fire, ballistic and impact forces.
