FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAFTI FIRST® FIRE RATED GLAZING AND FRAMING PRODUCTS NOW APPROVED COMPONENTS IN NFRC’S CMAST DATABASE

BRISBANE, CA (September 7, 2017) – SAFTI FIRST®, leading USA-manufacturer of advanced fire glass and framing systems, is pleased to announce that its SuperLite II-XL glazing and GPX Framing have been approved by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) Component Modeling Approach (CMA) program. The SuperLite II-XL 45, 60, 90 and 120 fire resistive glazing in both clear tempered and Starphire Low-Iron make-ups and GPX Framing up to 2 hours can now be downloaded as glazing and framing components in the Component Modeling Approach Software Tool (CMAST) database. This makes SAFTI FIRST the first and only fire rated glass and framing manufacturer to have approved glazing and framing components in the CMAST database.

This enables architects and builders to simulate the U-factor, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) and Visual Light Transmission (VLT) of exterior fire resistive window/wall assemblies that incorporate SuperLite II-XL, GPX Framing and any other glazing or spacer component available in the CMAST database. This allows them to design energy-efficient, NFRC certified fenestration systems that meet the most stringent fire rated requirements. SAFTI FIRST® will also have an Approved Calculation Entity (ACE) individual to assist in this process.

Per the NFRC’s Frequently Asked Questions on CMA, California has approved CMA for Title 24 compliance purposes for non-residential and residential high-rise (four habitable stories or greater) site built fenestration. Other states that reference NFRC 100 for U-Factor and NFRC 200 for SHGC and VLT will benefit from using CMA to generate ratings. ASHRAE 90.1 references NFRC 100 and 200, and is referenced in a majority of states as their commercial building energy code.

SAFTI FIRST® is constantly striving to provide the architectural community with more tools to make the integration of fire resistive glass and framing into the overall building envelope easier,” says Tim Nass, VP of National Sales at SAFTI FIRST. “With our products being available in CMAST, designers, specifiers and building owners are assured that every facet of their building design meets or exceeds fire rated code requirements, aesthetic intent and energy performance levels established and expected for their building.”

SAFTI FIRST®’s exterior fire rated systems are fully vetted for exterior performance with static & dynamic water pressure testing, air infiltration testing, thermal cycling & condensation evaluation, and structural, seismic and interstory displacement testing. It has also been tested to hurricane requirements, earning UL Certifications, Florida Product Approvals and Texas Department of Insurance Approvals. It can be engineered to meet blast, ballistic and other security requirements as well.
